Welcome!

An evolutionary ecology approach is critical to understanding how host-parasite interactions have changed through time in response to each other and to modifications in the environment. My lab's research investigates the role that genetic variability plays in parasite evolution. We integrate field, experimental, and molecular data with ecological, phylogenetic, and population genetic analyses to better understand patterns of disease from both host and parasite perspectives.

12/3/2025: We received the 2026 Science Outreach Award from the Canadian Society of Zoologists. Thanks to all the students that contributed to our outreach with students and campers in Wawatay and Mini U and the public at the Manitoba Museum. Also, to the authors of our paper describing some of our activities! Hopefully more people can use our work to inspire more outreach.

10/21/2025: The
episode on brainworm featuring collaborator Daniel Dupont (Universit
é de St-Boniface), Joshita (MSc 2022-present), Amy (BSc volunteer), and myself is out! Please check it out and other episodes of the series La Faune Connectée. It was a great experience filming with François Balcaen and his crew.

10/16/2025: Lena (BSc 2025) presented a poster on whether parelaphostrongylid parasites alter the vertical climbing of slug hosts at the Undergraduate Poster Competition. It was a good opportunity to field some questions about her work from a broad array of students and faculty.
